Mine is an old Browning A-bolt short action chambered in the forgotten "1st short mag without the name", the .284. It's topped with a 3x-9x Nikon scope & has killed everything I've shot at with it. It's the perfect size for deer, etc and is better than the .243 (too small for MY tastes), and the .30s (I'm allergic).

The 7.7 Japanese is a fine round indeed! I also like the the .35 Whelen and the .338-06 too. In my neck of the woods the .30-06 will do me just fine. If my 6.5x55mm Swede was up to par, I'd use it too. But if I had to grab my .303 No4 Mk1 "Custom Carbine" or my M-39 in 7.62x54Rmm, I'd not feel under gunned either. 12 ga. 870 Express Magnum with "Foster" slugs? Hell Yeah!

I've never owned one, but that Savage 110 sure looks interesting. I like the idea you can change barrels and calibers. From an engineering viewpoint - it's cool!
My favorite calibers:
Mulies, blacktails, antelope, elk in a pinch - 7x57 Piggies in the brush - 8x57 Song dogs - .243 Elk, moose, bear- 338/06 Whitetails in the woods - 257 Roberts Putting holes in paper out to 100 yards: 308 Smacking jacks and other little furry critters - 22 LR
