If you're a Garand shooter, you know your Garand loves grease. It doesn't function right with just oil - good old thick axle grease is best. I use Lubriplate 500 mixed up with some Slick 50 on my match Garand but prefer some GM steering column grease for general use. Here's a great diagram from the Garand Field Manual with the locations to apply the grease: ehedgeloans.com/jeffscoolstuff/M1%20Garand%20Rifle%20Grease%20Points.pdf

Jeff, That is a great tip there, and the diagram is very helpful too. Thank you for sharing that with us.

Mobil One General Purpose grease works the best of everything I have tried on a Garand.
$3.99 a lb at any parts store. it will last you and 5 of your buddys years and years.
One grease for all weather. Hey no freeze up at -13f is good enough for me!
