Today I finally did it. A friend of mine brought over a rusty and Bubba'd .303 for me to clean up. I got what was left of the original wood off the rifle and soaked the steel in Aero Kroil. This will lift the rust and make it easier to clean. I was worried about what kind of "Goblins" and rust would be under the wood, luckily it is not bad and I can salvage it. I'll have to scrub the bore as best as I can and see if there is any pitting. I'll try to keep you guys posted ASAP.

I have the one you sent to me Jeff, I'll have to read the "smart papers" and give it a whirl. Well, the ol' gal is cleaning up VERY well! Aero Kroil and Green Scotch Brite Pads do wonders! Mild pitting on the bolt handle and knob and there is a "rib" on the left side of the receiver that has some mild pitting, but not severe at all. I doubt the bore will ever "shine", but from what I can see so far, it looks like a GREAT bore too. STRONG rifling too. Will keep you guys posted.

Well, the rust is gone and it cleaned up nicely! Next is to clean the bore and re-assemble the furniture, then oil it properly and hand it back to my friend.

Steel and furniture are drying in the corner in our "spare room". I got the rifle and wood drying over a towel leaning in the corner long with ALL the hardware it took to make the rifle one piece. RECIPE: Aero Kroil and Green Scotch Brite Scrub Pads. www.kanolabs.com sales@kanolabs.com THIS Aero Kroil is ONLY for industrial use!!!! I "borrowed" a can or two from the Foundry before I got laid off. AFTER I scrub the bore I'll oil it with the PROPER oil and put it back together. I stoned the trigger and I'll test it BEFORE I give it back. Reason for stoning the trigger.... Pitting was not cool! P.S., I used Orange Awesome degreaser / cleaner too along with the Aero Kroil. The Orange cleaner removed about 80% of the gunk and trash from the wood too. ;D
