Choose your favorite weapon when hunting whitetails.

I chose centerfire rifle. In my state it is more or less a tradition to use a rifle. If I could use a bow, I would. But due to having bad shoulder problems pulling a bow causes a lot of pain.

I use my M-1917 .30-06 mostly, but if my 6.5x55mm Swedish Mauser was up to par, I'd grab that too. In thick heavy brush where a scope will be a hindrance I'll go with my .303 No4 Mk1 Enfield, or my M-39 in 7.62x54Rmm. If I want to, I could use my Remington 870 Express Magnum with Rifled {Foster} Slugs, no Buckshot is allowed in my area to hunt with except for vermin or 2 legged vermin.

I have 2 weapons I usually grab when hunting whitetails-the 1st is my Mathews bow. When gun hunting, my go to gun is my browning A-bolt short action in .284.

That's why I didn't vote. Never shot a whitetail. Out here it's all blacktails and mulies.

I think the subject could cover any deer that is any region of North America.

Well, where I hunt mulies, they can see you coming a looooooong ways off, so a bow is out, and so is big slow bullet like a 45/70 or even a 30/30 is pretty useless, so I have to go with a fast centerfire rifle. The blacktails, though can be in coastal brush so it's all about the hunter, not his tools. I'd love to try bowhunting some day. I've killed a few haybales in my time but nothing with real fur on it.

As I stated above, I'd love to use my 6.5x55mm Swedish. The stock needs to be replaced, the peep sights removed and a scope added and the bolt reforged. The bore is absolutely fabulous.
