Which is your favorite? We all have our preferences and that is what makes the world go around and that is cool too. Please explain why you like your preference too?
To get it started, I chose the M-1 Garand. Why? It served us through WWII, Korea, and early Vietnam, and it has a good amount of reach and punch and it is very accurate even in the semi automatic circles too when given the proper TLC. There are several different M-2 Ball loads you can feed it including blanks for grenade spigots / launchers. And with a 10" or even an older 16" bayonet too, I REALLY don't think anyone will give you any lip in a full scale charge, unless he is on crack or morphine! ;D Also, it is a .30-06 which in my humble opinion is ONE of the best cartridges I have ever used.

Boot camp was the only time I saw a garand. Had to give it a girls name. I have shot the m14. Good sniper gun. Next was the m16 which I turned in an took an AK. But the Garand functioned under the most abusive conditions and never let me down. Just like the 1911 45.

IMHO, Anything is better than the M-16. M-1 Garand, M-14, AK-47, FN-FAL etc. .

I've never met a Mauser I didn't like. I've had a few that nearly shook my teeth loose though with the recoil.

Can I vote twice? For a battle rifle, Garand all the way. For a fun hunting/plinking/gunsmithin friendly rifle, I'm with Tommy.

All good stuff. I have plans to let Neil work his magic with my Mauser.

I've always wanted a NM M1A as well! of course when I have the money it always gets spent on something else. I've also always wanted a 1874 Sharps & a Colt Python 6" in royal blue too.

All those others are nice but there is only one rifle.
The FN FAL.

I knew you would say that Burner and I agree on that rifle as well.
