I only own one for now and it is all I need for now. M-1911A1 5" Llama / Colt "hybrid" .45 A.C.P. It was built by a former U.S.M.C. Armorer right before I bought it and it has never left me down.

Well pal, I got myself a Springfield 1911 Gov't that's had a trigger job done by Alan Tillman, and is now gettin' some new sights put on by that same feller...I paid $279 for the pistol 12 years ago ((new from Springfield)) and I'm thinking the thing is worht about $1500 now..But of course this jarhead will state it's priceless and go to his next beer. Thanks for inventing this place Cledus; love ya, God bless ya, and Semper Fi from the bottom of my heart !!! ;D

Sounds like a great pistol man. I'd love to try it out someday!
I didn't act alone in creating this forum, my friend Bear helped me. He is gunsmith and he lives in K.Y., somewhere in the hill country.
Spread this forum around to people that you know who are pro gun. And you are welcome. De Oppresse Liber!!

Just about got the Missus convinced to get me another 1911. The one I want right now is a Springfield MC Operator. It feels just right in my hand (but then again so do about a half dozen OTHER 1911s). But this is one of my picks.
Another one is Sig's GSR Revolution. It looks somewhat boxy like a typical Sig, but don't let that turn you too far off. I got a chance to do a lot of shooting of one of these things. All I can say is "wow." One of the features it has that I really like is the good ol' GI plug and what not. I think that's the best way to go (just my opinion), and it was smart of Sig to do this. Bottom line, the gun is very smooth, nice and tight, and shoots like a dream. I still think I'd rather have the MC Operator, but I've never fired one. Either way, I'd be happy.
Looked at the Kimber SIS as well, but I'm not so sure about that one. The sights are well made, and they are the kind that if you had to work the slide with only one hand, all you would have to do is find a hard edge somewhere and set the front of those rear sights on it, and you would be good to go. But I don't know about those cocking serrations.....

Ray, You got the right stuff there. I'm still out to lunch on a lot of Kimber's. Very expensive. Sig is a great piece, and Springfield IMO for the money is the way to go. But if I had to pick, I'd go with all three over ANY Glock, guaranteed. Rob, I think you got a lucky Hi-Point, the both of you can use it well and it will work for defense if the .44 is not handy.

My favorite at the moment is a Polish TT33. It has the smaller safety, much better than the one on the Romys. I'd like one without the safety, but they get a little pricey. These are similar in design to the 1911, the Russkies definitely were inspired by John Browning. Also 7.62x25 is a sweet round.

Yep, 1911s rule! Mine's a mutt that has parts from all sorts of places. I keep tuning it up and fiddling with it so there's not too many original parts except the frame from back 20 years or so ago. My only other regular choice is a .44 Mag in a Colt Peacekeeper clone with adjustable sights that I use to go into the brush after these bad boys when they try to hide.

I'm betting that Colt "clone" is a Ruger Super Blackhawk. I've got 1 and it's a SWEET shooter. My working 1911 is an Taurus PT1911, while I carry a "pocket" .45 for CCW. I also have several others including some Ruger Target pistols and a tiny Ruger LCP .380 that NEVER leaves my front pocket when outside the house.

Jeff, Your pistol may be a "mutt", but what matters most it will work if / when you need it.
