I went into the local gunshop a couple of days ago and was searching the used gun rack and came across one of the rifles on my "wish list". Sitting there in the rack was a very nice Mauser IG 71/84 born in 1888 at the Spandau arsenal. I started looking it over and found it to have all matching numbers. Even the screws! Be still my beating heart as I flipped the price tag over. It had a sale price of $325. I've frequented the store for over 20 years so I asked the owner if she would take $300 OTD. To my surprise she said yes! So today I went back and picked it up. It's mine...all mine I say!! I got it home and began checking it over with the proverbial fine toothed comb and found it to have only one mismatched serial number and that is the mag follower. I ran a patch throught he bore and out came cosmoline leaving a mirror bright bore with very sharp rifling. I took out the bolt and it's still full of cosmoline as is much of the other parts of the rifle. I'm extremely happy with this purchase if you can't tell. Now to fire up the casting pot and make myself some bullets. On to the picture....
