I pretty much sum up my hunting whether it would be varmints or Deer with a sporterized M-1917 Enfield .30-06. It never left me down from groundhogs to Whitetail Deer it always did the job. I have others, but none as good as my M-1917. If I could legally in my state, I'd use my M-1 Garand too.
Tell us what you use please?

For hunting, my sporterized German Spandau 1917 GEW98 in 7x57, with a Douglas Barrel and Nikon scope. With it I've dropped deer, elk, antelope and wild pigs: For high power match shooting, a 1930s German "Standard Modell" (predecessor to the WWII K98) Banner Mauser in .308, tricked out with Lyman sights, a Parker Hale British sniper rifle barrel, and some secret tricks I pull off in my garage shop. I shot a clean (100 point) 7X 10 shot group at 200 from my belly with it and shot my first, all on the paper, 600 yard group also. Not much chance of me winning any matches but I'm at least on the paper all the time. But if I really want to reach out and touch someone, I built this companion to the above on a Czech 98/22 Mauser with the same barrel and a 6-24 x 50 MIL dot scope. I can consistently hit a 24 inch steel plate at 1000 with my handloads, 155 gr Sierra JHPBTs in front of 46 grains of Varget.

My go to rifle is an ol beat up Browning A-bolt in .284. It's killed truckloads of deer, coyotes, and groundhogs. It'll group 5 shots into 3/4" from 200 yards when fired from a steady bench any time you pick it up. Naturally I've kind of slicked it up a bit, with 14oz trigger pull.

Jeff has some nice rifles there for sure! Neil has that .284 he loves as much as I love my M-1917.

Sounds cool Rob! Before and after would be a day to night comparison.
