I believe it was Mossberg that made the Single Shot slug guns that had a 10 ga. thickness barrel for 12 ga. rifled slugs in single shot. Remember those shotguns from a few years back that had some REALLY thick barrels for bore sizes they really didn't need to use?
OK. Here is my question. In regards to the thread involving a .410 for self defense. Say you had a Single Shot .410 with a barrel thicker than needed like a 28 ga. or a 16 ga., like above paragraph stated. Then would it be safe to use .454 Casull or .460 S&W Magnum in that barrel designated for .410 but thicker walled? Say making that in a pump / slide action shotgun with a barrel that is double or triple thick in .410 3" chamber, even a SxS for multi caliber defense. As I stated above, .410 is a "CALIBER" not a Gauge designation.
So, in theory it should work am I wrong? Or would it ACTUALLY work? .410 chambering to be able to use the .460 S&W Mag. . Thoughts Bear?

The design strength of the shotgun locking system itself comes into play along with the barrel wall thickness. If it was me, i'd not try it. I don't think the locking mechanism is strong enough for that.

Thank you Bear for the insight here. As well as TommyT for his insight in the ".410 For Self Defense" thread.
Now folks, lets drum up some new members?
