Hey Stalkingbear. I've been thinking of building a .44 Rimless on a -03 Turk (Intermediate length '98 Mauser) for a while now. Do you see any problems with a rifle case headspacing on the mouth like a 45 ACP? shootersforum.com/showthread.htm?t=32036I'd want it as a short, handy brush gun for pigs and such. - Jeff

The only problems I can see offhand is it would be necessity to taper crimp instead of roll crimp. Also neck thickness would be a biotch to keep within specs considering case "stretch" on straight wall cartridges. I'm sure you could get by the feeding problems of rimmed cartridges. It would be workable but I'd rather keep the rim personally. They've been successfully making .45/70s in old mausers for years. I don't see why it wouldn't work either way IF you pay close enough attention to everything. Darn good question though. Hey Stalkingbear.
