WHICH do YOU prefer for self defense? 9mm or .45 A.C.P. OR 10mm??
I'll take a 10mm, but for now my .45 A.C.P. rules the roost!
I have a .44 Magnum, but it is a lever action Marlin Carbine, so we can't count that here in the "Pistol" page.

I keep my .45s loaded with Winchester Ranger SXT 230 gr +P. I don't feel undergunned in the least. My favorite is the .45acp.

My fav round for self defense was .44 SPL in my Charter Arms Bulldog.

Great choice Tom. I like that one as well. I still rely on my M-1911A1 5" .45 ACP.

I still rely on my M-1911A1 5" .45 ACP. You mean there's something else? 5 grains of Unique behind 230 gr RNs and it'll still do what it was designed to do back in the fight in the Philippines: founder a horse.

Tom, I just reviewed this post and I HOPE you are NOT using reloads for defensive ammo. I hope you have a FACTORY round for use in this pistol.

Would prefer a 12 guage but they're kinda hard to conceal . ;D So instead , .40 S&W I use Federal's P40HST2 In 9x18 Hornady XTP . In .380 Corbon JHP or Federal Hi Shock P380HS1

It really was not so much the horses they wanted to founder, but the leather clad Moro's too. I read about that in an OLD article years ago by Garry James, author for Guns & Ammo Magazine. Yes the horses were the main target, but the leather clad Moro's also were tough to kill if they were hopped up on some kind of "herbs". The .38 cal. revolvers of the day wouldn't stop the Moro's and so the Gov't dug out all the old Colt Peacemakers in .45 Colt or .44-40 and distributed them like snow in December. They got the leather cladness from the Turks or vice versa, cannot remember which.
