What do you prefer? A .357 Magnum or a .38 Special that can handle +P+ loads? And why? For me, I'd buy a .357 Magnum, that way I could stuff all the .38's in it I could muster and then still have the hotter .357 Magnum to rely on if the SHTF. I also like the band called ".38 Special" too. Your mileage may vary.

The .357 is MUCH more versatile than the .38 and is MY choice between the 2. However .38s ain't as accurate when fired from a .357 chambered gun as when fired from a .38 chambered gun. My wife's S&W model 442 DAO is .38+P and in that tiny airweight J frame, .357s would be brutal to shoot. That's why I have hers loaded for "social occasions" with +P Gold Dot or +P Hornady Critical Defense loads.

I'm a HUGE fan of the .41magnum. Currently I only have 1-a Ruger Redhawk w/5.5" barrel.

I want a .41 Magnum. By golly, I have shot them in the recent past and I'm hooked! Nice compromise between the .357 Magnum and the .44 Magnum indeed! The late Bill Jordan I believe was a fan of the .41 Magnum too.
Bear told me "Dirty Harry" used a .41 Magnum S&W but I forget the model number.

It was a S&W model 57 in .41mag. They (film crew) were going to use a model 29 in .44mag but couldn't find 1 so they just got/used the model 57 and called it a .44mag model 29. They got by without anybody knowing from watching the movie due to the .41 bullets being .410 while .44 bullets are only .429.
